Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 6, 2026
Overview
Mongon is a native macOS application that connects directly to your MongoDB databases. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
No Intermediary Servers
Mongon connects directly from your Mac to your MongoDB servers. Your queries, documents, and database contents never pass through our servers. We have no access to your data.
Credential Storage
Connection credentials (hostnames, usernames, passwords, connection strings) are stored in the macOS Keychain, Apple's built-in secure credential storage. Mongon does not store passwords in plain text, in preferences files, or anywhere outside the Keychain.
CloudKit Sync
If you use the CloudKit Sync feature (Premium), your saved connection metadata syncs across your Macs via Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is end-to-end encrypted by Apple and tied to your iCloud account. We cannot read or access this data.
Analytics
Mongon collects anonymous usage analytics to help us understand how the app is used and to improve the experience. This includes:
- Screen views and feature usage (e.g. which features are used most)
- App version and macOS version
- Crash reports
Analytics data is anonymous and cannot be tied to your identity or your database contents. We do not collect query content, document data, connection strings, hostnames, or any database information.
Purchases
Premium is available as an in-app purchase through the Mac App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or have access to your payment information.
Third-Party Services
Mongon uses the following third-party services:
- Apple CloudKit — for syncing connection data across devices (Premium)
- Firebase Analytics — for anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting
- Apple StoreKit — for in-app purchase processing
Data Retention
All app data (connections, preferences, saved queries) is stored locally on your Mac and in your iCloud account if you use CloudKit Sync. If you delete the app, local data is removed. To delete CloudKit data, sign out of iCloud or remove the data from your iCloud storage.
Children's Privacy
Mongon is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Mongon after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
